environmental and ethical policies
packaging & recyclability
All of our cardboard within our packaging is PEFC, which means it has been sourced from suppliers who support worldwide sustainable forest management. The majority of plastic we use is made from PCR plastic (an environmentally friendly plastic that is recycled), PET plastic (a highly recyclable plastic), and HDPE (a recyclable plastic at the majority of facilities). We are continually working towards increasing our use of recyclable plastic in our packaging and phasing out non-recyclable materials to reduce our environmental impact. We follow an environmental and sustainability policy allowing us to meet British Retail Consortium Global Standards.
ingredients & labelling
We work hard to create formulations for our products that use high-performing ingredients, while also taking into consideration their environmental and safety impacts. Our labelling is clear, honest and safety compliant. Within Europe, we always meet obligations under the latest REACH Guidelines (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals) and the GHS legislation (Globally Harmonized System), and when exporting globally we take care to meet the relevant regulations.
animal testing & vegan
We’re happy to say that none of our silver, jewellery & household ranges are tested on animals! The vast majority of our range is vegan, however we do have a few that are not - please get in touch if you would like more information.
warning symbols
You may have noticed that some of our products have warning symbols on them - these warnings are here due to legislations from the European Union and the United Nations to ensure that everyone has consistent, simple to understand information about the chemicals contained within a product. The warnings refer to some unlikely scenarios e.g. ingesting huge amounts of the product; however, we would like to assure you that our products are safe when used as directed. Our formulations for Silver Sparkle and Silver Cutlery Rinse contain a small amount of a chemical called Thiourea, which is a key ingredient for removing tarnish. In 2015 EU regulations changed about how chemical products are labelled, so we are now obliged to show a Carcinogenic warning on the packaging. The classification of Thiourea is based on animal studies where Thiourea was ingested daily for prolonged periods, so in order for it to cause any harm it has too be consumed in vast amounts over a long amount of time. We can assure you that Silver Sparkle and Cutlery Rinse are safe products when used as directed. We have been manufacturing them for decades and have never had any incidents of it causing any harm.
non-hazardous & non-toxic
These can be confusing terms as there are many different definitions. Under EU regulations, we are constantly working towards making as many as our products non-hazardous as we can. This is not always possible as these regulations are often changing and have tightened up over the last few years, resulting in more cleaning products required hazard labelling. However, all of our products are non-toxic, by the definition that they will not cause adverse health effects when used as directed.
